Bahrain: Wilson Olivera to enthrall music lovers on May 18

Bahrain, Apr 5: Konkani Community – Bahrain in association with Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bahrain will present ‘Wilson Olivera Nite’, a musical extravaganza filled with foot-tapping music, scintillating dance moves and rib-tickling comedies on May 18 at Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium, Sacred Heart Church, Manama, Bahrain from 7.30 pm onwards.

After enthralling Konkani music lovers in 2005 in Bahrain, ‘Sangeeth Sardar’ Wilson Olivera is back again with a bang, courtesy Konkani Community- Bahrain to entice his fans with mesmerizing music and meaningful lyrics. The show will be a power house of entertainment and Konkani hearts both young and old are sure to skip a beat while they witness some of Wilson’s popular and latest compositions.



Konkani Community

Konkani Community was formed originally as Konkani prayer Group in the year 1995 with the intention of helping the Konkani liturgical services and conducting prayer meetings on Sundays. Later in the year 2007, it became ‘Konkani Community’ and got involved in organizing the annual feasts of Monti Fest and St Francis Xavier, in addition to the weekly Konkani Masses on Saturdays and Sundays. The Konkani community is also actively participates in the various parish activities and fund raising events. It has successfully staged a Konkani drama called "Konnakuch khobor na" in the year 2014 and ‘Lancy Moras Nite’in the year 2015 in association with Konkani Kutam- Bahrain to raise funds for the Cathedral in Bahrain.

Konkani community witnessed a major growth in its popularity after the arrival of its new spiritual director Fr Gaspar Fernandes, who was the driving force behind holding the successful events like ‘Wilfy Nite’, two years ago and ‘Konkani Sangeet Sanz’ last year. First time in the history of Sacred Heart Church, the Community organized the screening of two popular Goan Konkani movies, ‘Home Sweet Home’ in 2015 and ‘Nachuiam Kumpasar’ in 2016 in Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium. Plans are also underway to screen some popular movies from Mangaluru in the near future.

Staging the much anticipated event of ‘Wilson Olivera Nite’ will add another feather in the cap of Konkani Community which has become the second largest community of Sacred Heart Church, Bahrain. Konkani music lovers of Bahrain will definitely cherish the memories of this musical evening in future.

Wilson Olivera’s music has always ruled the hearts of ardent Konkani music lovers and he constantly strives to provide innovative music every time to cater to the varied musical tastes of the people. With over 49 musical shows and seven music albums to his credit, Wilson is indisputably a musical heartthrob among Konkani music buffs.

Having rendered momentous lyrics and melodious music, he is undoubtedly conferred with titles of ‘Sangeeth Sardar’ and ‘Konkan Manik’. He is also the recipient of prestigious awards like 'Konkani Kala Samaj Puraskar' in 1995, 'Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award' in 2003, 'Divo Sahitya Puraskar' in 2008 and 'Konkani Surdas Puraskar' in 2009.

The musical evening will be compered by , Ronald Olivera, the award-winning master of ceremony and the younger brother of Wilson Olivera. A proud winner of International Toast Masters Award for four consecutive years, he has compered for innumerable musical shows of renowned artistes of Konkani music world.

Wilson Olivera will be ably supported by renowned music director Roshan D’Souza, Angelore. Other popular singers from the Konkan musical arena namely, Prashanth Pinto, Preema D’souza, Joyline Gonsalves, Venessa Saldanha, Lanisha Vaz, Delisha Vas and few more popular singers from Bahrain will accompany the maestro in contributing additional charm to his evergreen rendition of melodious performances.

The evening will also witness outstanding performances from Bahrain’s famous dancers, who would be treating the audience to a round of truly astounding and breath taking moves thus enhancing the magic of the musical evening.
Apart from music and dance the other moments of delight will be contributed by the ever popular comedians ‘Melwin Kalakul & Team’ who are sure to create a riot of laughter among the crowd and keep them entertained all along.
