Mangaluru, Mar 29: The 27th convocation ceremony of Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital was held at the College auditorium in Deralakatte here on Wednesday, March 29.

Bishop of Mangaluru and president of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza who presided over the programme, said that students who were presented with degrees during the ceremony had achieved success and excellence.

"All those who received degrees in the convocation are the ones who have performed well. Father Muller Institutions imparts effective education and those who have received it, should engage in the service of humanity, especially the poor," he said.

Yenepoya Medical University vice-chancellor Dr M Vijaya Kumar, who was the chief guest, said, "The habit of comparing between individuals can be disastrous. People who compare themselves to others cannot succeed in life.

"Success can be achieved by prayers, patience and vision. Students should not opt for a profession just because it is easy to earn money in it. One can be a successful and respectable doctor in society only when one chooses the course to serve patients.

"Feelings of jealousy grow when individuals are compared, this can result in low self-esteem. It is much more disastrous than any deadly disease that affects us. Securing a degree after sitting in the classroom is a sign of hard work and talent. At the same time, it is necessary to be humble and humane, spending our lives for the betterment of society," he said.

As many as 79 undergraduates and 23 postgraduates were awarded degrees. Among them were five BHMS rank holders, seven rank holders in PG and two gold medalists declared by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

Ayush department director Raj Kishore Singh was the chief guest. Fr Richard Coelho, director of Father Muller’s welcomed. Homeopathic department Principal Dr Shiva Prasad presented annual report. Father Muller Homeopathic College and hospital administrator Fr Vincent Saldanha proposed vote of thanks.

    Beowulf,

I was not surprised at your following response/opinion to my positive experiences/feedback on homoeopathic system of medicine:

"Homoeopathy is a pseudoscience. If you believe it cures diseases, please go ahead and believe. Actually stating Homoeopathy can serve humanity is same like saying Astrology can serve humanity"

I can certainly vouch from my own (including my family members/relatives) as well as friends/acquaintances' positive experiences that there have been cures/positive results in the treatment of childlessness and premature loss of unborn/still-born babies, eczema, bronchial asthma, frozen shoulder, vertigo, gout, memory loss (caused by head injury), systemic fever,
PCOS/PCOD, respiratory problems/allergies, rheumatic heart problem, urinary tract infection. After my shifting to Bangalore too, I was fortunate to be under the treatment of highly accomplished/competent homoeo doctors of the calibre of late Dr. Yerdur Nagesh Rao (ex-Dongerkery, Mangalore, who during his 30 years' practice at Mangalore, was reputed to have cured countless skin-allergy patients), Dr. Arun Chandra Menon and later on, from Dr. Suresh Gundeti,
BHMS (FMHMC), FCHD (Dr. Batra's Homoeo College, Mumbai).

Homoeopathic system of medicine, although not a cure-all, is an effective, although slow acting in most of the diseases treated by it. The only things required for its success are, a very competent homoeopath, proper diagnosis & proper line of treatment (proper diagnostic tools like medical check-up & pathological reports are certainly desirable in assisting the doctor), the highest quality of medicines, as well the faith/positive attitude and patience of the patient towards homoeopathy.

The skeptics/doubters will always be there. But, as far as I am concerned, I prefer it as the first line of treatment, in cases where no medical emergency involved.

Wishing the recently convocated graduate/post-graduate doctors of FMHMC all the best!

"Humanity" and "Service unto Needy" are the key words in the Medical profession of today's world where more and more people have a greater span of life, and obviously they are benefitted from the timely and suitable medical services all around the world. India is one single country where the life span is remarkably increasing and this is due to the increased and improved Medical services with the best Doctors hailing from some of the best Medical Institutions.

"Doctors without Borders" is a large congregation of India Doctors who have established themselves as a noble group in North America where, specially the Indian Doctors' are known for their noble and dedicaated services towards the needy and deserving, specially those who do not have a suitable Medical Insurance coverage.

Doctors in India will have a 'handfull' of responsibility to serve the sick and the needy because our population is growing and so also the span of life is increasing. Doctors in India are fully aware of their role in the world of medicine, and the Doctors of India have an inborn nobility built in them in order to extend their selfless services to many deserving sick people, specially the less previleged people.

We therefore extend our warm greetings to all the new Medical Graduates of Fr. Muller's so that they too may join the congregation of many other noble doctors in extending their hand of help to all those that deserve their medical talents and help. May God take good care of all our Doctors, male and female, young and old who have God's merciful hand upon them and their dedicated profession.

Congratulations to all the homoeopathy students (graduates as well as post-graduates) who have successfully graduated and received their degrees, as well as all the rank holders and gold-medallists, at the recently held 27th Convocation ceremony held at Fr. Muller Homoeopathic Medical College! Their hard work and dedication have paid off. Wishing them all the success and mental satisfaction , in their medical practice.

Being one of the ardent admirers and beneficiaries of the Homoeopathic system of medicine, beginning from the time of the ever-green Dr. V. T. D'Souza and having had the good fortune to get very beneficient and effective homoeopathic treatment for myself and my family from homoeo doctors of repute even after relocating to Bangalore (my present family homoeopathic physician being the highly successful but gentle/humble/unassuming Dr. Suresh G., a graduate of FMHMC, having served for 15 years at Dr. Batra's Homoeopathic institutions at Bangalore and presently having set up his private practice at Bangalore).

Homoeopathy is certainly one of the most effective, harmless (with hardly any side-effects), as well as cost-effective/affordable systems of medicine (effective in many of the diseases/health problems), as I can vouch from my personal as well as family's experience, since the past 44-45 years. It is definitely possible to serve humanity as well as make a successful career, in Homoeopathy.
