Kundapur: Training workshop held for health service workers

Kundapur, Mar 28: Deputy commissioner, Priyanka Mary Francis inaugurated the Health Worker's Interview and Training Workshop held under the aegis of district health and family welfare association, Udupi district and Taluk health officer's office, Kundapur at R N Shetty Kalyana Bhavan, Kundapur Bantara Yane Nadavara complex on Tuesday, March 28. 

Speaking on occasion she said, “Udupi has become a model district because of the service of Asha, Anganwadi and health workers. These workers visit houses of locals, convey information on health and ensure that the government facilities reach beneficiaries. Their visits and communication have helped fill people with confidence and courage. Their health-related services are the foundation pillars in the service-oriented programmes.”

"The workshops are being held to inspire the workers, fill them with confidence and develop their unique abilities. Workshops like this develop courage and positive attitude in the workers. All the health workers should take advantage of such workshops and ensure the benefits reach ordinary people,” she said.

Sub-Divisional officer Shilpa Nag presided over the programme.

Former Rotary district governor Dr P Narayana, municipal council president Vasanthi Saranga, vice president Rajesh Kaveri, convener of Kalyana Bhavana, R N Shetty, Mescom director Sampigedi Sanjiva Shetty, Dr Rohini from the district health and family welfare department, deputy director of women's and children's department, Gracy Bonsalis, IAP president Dr Sudarshan Udupa, Kundapur general hospital administrative medical officer Dr Udaya Shanker Bhat, Taluk panchayat chief executive officer Chennappa Moily, were the resource persons of the workshop. Rotary's Manaje Raghavendra Rao conveyed his best wishes.

State awardees and Anganwadi workers Philomena and Prema were felicitated on occasion.

Rotary Club Kundapur president Udaya Kumar Shetty Adikekodlu welcomed the gathering. Taluk health officer Dr Nagabhooshan Udupa delivered a keynote address. Prabhavathi Shetty compered the programme. Dr Udaya Shanker proposed the vote of thanks.

In the anti-polio campaign in the workshop, Dr P Narayan explained about International Rotary service. World Health Organization advisor Dr Sathischandra Shetty gave details of government programmes that work towards eradicating polio. DVBDC P O Dr Premananda spoke on problems of malnutrition among pregnant women and preventive measures for the same, Byndoor community health center Dr Prashanth Bhat spoke on grama health project and nutrition day, S Janardan on Panchayat Raj rules and rural health programme and dentist I D A president Dr Vijayendra spoke on Tobacco being a menace.
