Bengaluru: Contrary to jail staff claim, Sasikala getting VIP facilities - report

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 27: Contrary to the claims of the jail authorities that V K Sasikala, who had aspired to become chief minister of Tamil Nadu before being sent to jail in disproportionate assets case and lodged at Parappana Agrahara jail here, is getting all facilities. Initially, it was said that she would be kept in a tiny cell with just a fan, pillow, blanket and a sheet. She had to share the cell with two other women and that she was entitled to two newspapers everyday, it was said. People were also given to understand that she had to lie on cement floor and make scented sticks or candles during her stay inside the jail.

It is gathered that Sasikala, Elavarasi and others in the jail have been getting royal treatment there. They have been getting home-cooked food, television, air-conditioner, freedom to wear any cloth instead of jail uniform, and liberty to meet anyone who comes to visit her. As per information, she is allowed to hold party meetings inside the office of the jailer.

The quarantine cell allotted to Sashikala and Elavarasi is off limits for people other than women's barrack superintendent, Anita, and a few trusted employees. Jail staff reveal that the jail staff needs to be conversant with Tamil if they need to visit this spot. It is said that close watch is being kept on jail staff to ensure that information from here does not reach outside.

There are allegations that jail officers have been forcibly checking cellphones of the staff to make sure that information from inside the jail do not get leaked to the media.

So what? If you hold an election tomorrow.... there are people who would vote for her. This shows how stupid we, the citizens are. India will never progress if people cast vote has they do now.

Just compare Indian democracy to the western one. In the west even if a small allegation comes against the politician with a little proof, his/her political career could be over then and there. But here we cast votes on candidates with multiple allegations and even with those with criminal cases filed against them. What the people have to realise is that if we cast votes to these questionable characters, how can we expect a good governance from them?

For a democracy to work, the voting rights have to be given to a well-informed, educated people. The ancient greek philosopher Socrates had the same view about the democracy, so even I tend to agree with him on this.

Thieves are helping thieves. Has judge instructed how many Agerbathies she has to make in a day??? Is it called Amma Agerbathies or Kala Agerbathies.?? When she comes out of Jail she will become more famous. Unless our judicial system and police dept becomes perfect we can not be a modern developed country.

Instead of this Jail punishment better the Judge has to order for providing Royal treatment to the accused persons. Why order for rigorous imprisonment and then relax everything in the Jail. the Jail authorities and staff are also the culprits. All jail authorities are dancing according to the tunes of the criminals. What is this ? God alone knows!
