If at all she had survived many more future female feutus would have been sacrificed for the sake of having a boy. Madness. She must have taken such a drastic step earlier too in a secret way. In human behaviour.

@mohini India,is abortion leagl in India ?to terminate the pregnency by a doctor for being a fourth girl? Now ?are not rest three girls motherless. How stupid parents were to terminate it seeking a midwife? Is she a realone or village midwife?may be it was bit less costing than a doctor for the parents. They too (atleast now father)should be punished ,file a case against him for illegal abortion. killing foetus, and result in death of wife. This Amma must have flown to her birthplace.(I believe amma comes from kerala or TN)Heartfelt sympathy to left back children.

In India many medications are available with rpeceription and see the result. One innocent and baby and mother died. Very sad. There must be stringent regulations for sale of drugs over counter and good methods of monitoring. May there be good regulations in drugs sale

medication? Any foreign body in a pregnant uterus will irritate it and induce labour. As a house surgeon, I remember working at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Jayanagar 4th T Block in Bangalore, where a eminent surgeon would use anything from a suction catheter to a rubber tube to induce labour, as long as he is paid his "fees". There is nothing anybody can do until our mentality changes. We all not educated, we are just literate. We all should consider ourselves educated when such criminal activities are curbed.

Husband is also responsible for her death. Illegal abortion is nothing but murder, he should be booked for murder along with midwife.
