Bantwal: Suspects illegally transporting logs of wood arrested

Bantwal, March 22: Bantwal zonal forest officials arrested two suspects illegally transporting logs of wood in a lorry on Tuesday night, March 21.

The officials arrested Lorry driver, Abdul Lathif, a  resident of Belthangady, and  Abdul Lathif, a native of Farangipete and released them on bail. The lorry and the logs were seized. The value of seized goods is said to be Rs five lac. 

The officials who received definite information that logs of wood were being illegally transported from Belthangadi to B C Road in a Swaraj Mazda lorry stopped the vehicle at B C Road circle and conducted the inspection.

Forest officer Suresh B, deputy conservator of forests Preetham S, Carol Monteiro, forest guards Vinaya Kumar, Jithesh P and driver Jayaram participated in the operation.

Assistant conservator of forests, Sridhar Nayak is conducting further investigation under guidance from assistant forest officer Dr K T Hanumantappa.
