Bantwal, Mar 22: The interior of Sanman Bar and Restaurant on B C Road got set aflame in the early hours of Tuesday March 21. In a complaint, owner of the place, Giridhar Prabhu, said he suffered a loss of about ten lac rupees due to fire.

The fire was sighted after it rose in size at around 1 am on Monday. As there was no one in the building at the time and the road in front of the restaurant was deserted, no one had initially noticed the fire. The staff of the police station located opposite the hotel called the hotel owner and the fire brigade on seeing the fire spreading inside the building. By the time the fire brigade came and doused the fire, many items including refrigerators, air-conditioners, furniture etc got burnt down. It is presumed that the fire was on account of an electric short circuit.

Police sub-inspector of the town police station, Nandakumar has taken up investigation.
