Muslim religious leaders divided on Ayodhya dispute resolution

New Delhi, Mar 22 (IANS): Several Muslim religious leaders on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court (SC) observation for resolving the Ayodhya's Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute through amicable settlement though the Babri Masjid Action Committee and others did not agree.

Welcoming the apex court observation, Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari said: "We should be ready to solve the matter through discussion and if we fail to come up with any solution, then the matter is in any case with the Supreme Court."

"We will accept whatever the SC decision is. All problems can be solved through discussion," Bukhari told IANS.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday favoured an amicable settlement to the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute in Ayodhya and offered to act as mediator, which was welcomed by the BJP but ruled out by the Babri Masjid Action Committee and others.

"Muslims in India have never been against the Ram temple. Political interference failed the earlier attempts to resolve the dispute through dialogue," said Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, one of the leading Muslim religious leader.

"The stand of the Muslim Personal Law Board has always been that it will accept the Supreme Court judgment."

Speaking on the probable modalities of the discussion, Rashid said: "My opinion, which I think is also the opinion of the majority of Indians, is that the religious sentiment of both communities should be respected. If leaders of the two communities come together with the right intent, the issue will definitely get resolved."

"The matter concerns Hindu and Muslim clerics and I think they should sit together and try to find out a solution," said Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, chief of All India Imam Organisation.

On the other hand, Babri Masjid Action Committee convenor Zafaryab Jilani as well as All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi virtually ruled out an out-of-court settlement.

"An amicable solution is impossible. This has to be dealt in the court itself. If the court passes any order to that effect (amicable solution), we will think about future course of action," said Jilani.

"We have faith if the Chief Justice of India himself mediates or nominates a team of Supreme Court judges or court itself hears the matter. But we are not willing to accept an out-of-court settlement," he added.

"Several rounds of talks on earlier occasion have failed to yield result. That is why the AIMPLB had decided that it will not go for any more talks," Owaisi said, adding that the "case was about the (land) title which the Allahabad High Court wrongly decided as a partnership case."

Instead of reporting Muslims leaders divided on Ayodhya it should rather say mass media is creating a division among the Muslims a type pre poll consensus in order to pave way for the BJP for 2019 elections.

Muslim leadership always maintained saying that they will respect the SC decision. It is only BJP leadership violated the SC orders and demolished the mosque once stood. There were two attempts of out of court settlement in the past during VP Singh and PV Narasimha Rao government.

The SC hinted on it might revive criminal conspiracy against 13 BJP and other right wing leaders in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case, that were dropped by special trial court in Lucknow on technical ground.

"People cannot be discharged this on technical ground" a bench of justice PC Ghose and justice RF Nariman noted while hearing a CBI plea challenging the 2010 Allahbad HC decision to uphold the trial court discharge order favouring L K Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh.

In order save LK Advani who is expected to be Presidential candidate BJP government has remove RF Nariman from the Ayodhya bench.

The timeline of Ayodhya issue is deliberate with UP election victory in favour of BJP. This report just like Assam Fatwa of Muslim singer which never existed. The fact remains that any story about 'Fatwa', even if totally imaginary, sends certain media houses into a frenzy. This is a reflection of the bigotry and inherent biases against Islam and Muslims in the media.

The timely intervention of SC would have saved many thousand lives and property. If there is out of court solution the credibility of highest court will be in question. India may need like 'Khap panchayat' type verdict which is faster than SC. Is SC delivered to save the criminal leadership of the BJP and Hindu fanaticism?

As per Islamic Sharia law, a mosque cannot be built on any illegal land or by capturing land. Muslims offer prayer to please Allah and with a belief as a path way to enter Paradise. So when such important and integral prayers of a Muslim are not accepted, then no Muslim would like to construct any Masjid on any illegal or occupied land.

Supreme Court should definitely pass the verdict as we all definitely want to know whether Babri Masjid was built on Temple or not..... We want to know the judgement from Supreme Court, how far those who claim there was Temple are true to their words. They simply can't say it's a matter of Astha to them and do kabzaa for any property belonging to others. This is Anarchy.... Aastha is not proof.... You have to give historical records, revenue records, land records.

If you capture my house and then say that there was a Ram Mandir there, will I not ask for proof? They should prove it... Let them prove it if they are truthful. If the court say they were truthful and proof talks the same then we Muslims don't need an inch of land from that place as for us Prayers are most important to be accepted than any specific place.

Previously in the Allahabad high court, six prominent historians said in court that there was no Mandir at the site of the Babri Masjid. Historically, there is no proof. All these historians who deposed before the court were non-Muslims.

Supreme Court can't escape from their duty without passing judgement and asking the parties to solve amicably... This didn't work out since last 10 times and how can we expect it 11th time? We go to court only as a last resort. Why the court is asking us to solve it amicably? We want to know who were truthful, & the defaulters should be punished, coz the history should never repeat again.

If the Supreme Court dont pass judgement, after few years then anybody may start claiming , that here Krishna was born, Shiva was born etc and this so and so Masjid has to be replaced.

Rama mandir is emotional issue for majority hindus. God has given very good opportunity through Supreme Court to solve this problem amicably through negotiation by two communities. It will somehow reduce the barrier between two community. But if the muslims are adamant in their decision..like ShaBhano case law to be modified to favor rama mandir in Ayodhya as both house of the parliament has majority in 2018. But this will deepen the wounds.

Temples, Mosque s and Churches are places of worship, built for the spirit beings, Being spirits, have no particular physical form, they intersect with each other, aware of their strength and weaknesses. But the irony is that we are fighting for the dwelling place for the unseen, spiritual beings on the material planet. Since Spirits can dwell anywhere, why are we insisting that temples, mosque s and churches need to be built only on a particular spot?

if there was any source of mandir before babar rule the supreme court had no problem to give the decisson in favour of majoritrean consensus which we saw before in various cases. There were chances of clearely with evidance that its mosque and thats why honourable supreme court throwing the ball at public court of mutual settlement but as muslim we need and only need justice on the basis of evidance and not on the basis of somebodys believes. These kind of withdrawal behaviour of top court once again saying that even the courts are not dared to oppose ruling party govt while upholding legal accountability.

The Babri masjid was existing from secular king akbar and British rule period. but there wasn't claim from Hindu brothers claiming it was built on the ruins of Mandir; if it was a true claim certainly they would have provide justice.
during late 80's VP singh demanded OBC quota that was opposed by BJP thus inviting dissatisfaction/divisions from backward caste Hindus. To divert the attention then BJP started "ram mandir movement" and finally congress Govt at centre allowed to destruction though the CM at state mr. kalyan singh of BJP govt. who had given affidavit to protect the structure but failed and hence was jailed for one day by court as a token of punishment . Had the congress govt under late narsimha rao good intention to protect masjid would have been protected as there was intelligence report in hand that masjid would be demolished. Both parties played their respective politics we Hindus and Muslims citizens. "jung aur mohabbath mien sab such jail hai" (everything is fair in war and love '

Since the dispute was not settled amicably the case has been referred to court and SC need to make justice. may kangaroo court court pronounce injustice but all have faith on SC

This is clear that supreme court cannot take decision due to the central government which is led by Modi.. And we accept the SC decision But seems like if both the party will take another 25 years to settle this matter as religious people or any group cannot take decision which will not be agreed by one and all..
Better SC give the verdict on it to settle the matter quickly.

Anand, Karkala, same suggestion was given in 1990 by then Prime Minister V.P. Singh to VHP. He told VHP that, next to the Babri Masjid, build Ram Mandir. If court case come in favour to you, extend the temple in the place of babri Masjid. If court case come against to you, anyway you have Mandir. But VHP rejected this offer.
