Mangaluru Mar 17: "Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike will hold a protest on Sunday, March 19, opposite Konaje Police Station demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in Karthik murder case," informed Jagadish Alva, president of Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike.

Addressing media here on Friday, March 17 Jagadish Alva said, "It has been 5 months since the murder of Karthik Raj at Konaje. Yet, the police have utterly failed to detain the culprits involved in murder. We staged a protest demanding the same on January 1, opposite Konaje police station. But the police lulled the case, assuring the arrest of the accused as soon as possible. It's been 5 months, with no arrest so far."

He also added, "We wanted to stage a protest but permission by the police department was deferred. Finally we had to take decision to stage protest demanding justice for Karthik without the permission. We feel it was a communal murder. Karthik Raj did not belong to any organisation or indulge in any religious activities yet he was targeted and brutally murdered."

"Instead of nabbing the culprits, the police frequently interrogated his family members without any real evidence. This put the family members under undue stress" he said.

Umesh Pajir, father of deceased, Hindu hitarakshana vedike convenor Ganesh, and Sathish were present at the meet.
