Bengaluru: Nanjangud, Gundlupet bypolls - JD(S) not to field candidates

Daijworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 16: JD(S) has decided not to field its candidates for the bypolls being held for Nanjangud and Gundlupet assembly constituencies scheduled to take place on April 9. Nanjangud constituency had fallen vacant after MLA representing the constituency, V Srinivas Prasad, resigned after being axed from the ministry. Gundlupet constituency is facing bypoll on account of the sudden demise of its MLA and the then minister, H S Mahadeva Prasad.

The parliamentary party meeting held at the newly opened office of the JD(S) here on Wednesday March 15 arrived at this decision after protracted discussions. Speaking to media persons after the meeting, state president of the party, H D Kumaraswamy, said that most of the legislators who were present at the meeting expressed themselves against putting up candidates in these constituencies on behalf of JD(S). He stated that similar opinion had also emerged during his discussions with the party workers and leaders from the above two constituencies, at a meeting held there recently.

He said that as against the earlier decision to organize a mega convention of four to five lac party workers on the occasion of the inaugural of the new office of the JD(S) on Wednesday March 15, it was decided to postpone the convention to March 23 in view of presentation of the state budget. The inaugural of the office was held on Wednesday, and the convention of party workers will take place on March 23 at palace grounds, he clarified.

Probably no one was ready to shell out Rs. 2 crore demanded by Kumarswamy for allowing the party symbol. JDS and BSP whose leaders main source of income is by selling the seats . Otherwise how can Gowda family today's owns 300 crores of property. Same is the case with Mayawathi

This Both seats are easy for cong. Because Mahadev prasad was Good Worker for cong. other one is prestige issue. so siddu will do anything for that seat and send Srinivas to home.
