Mangaluru: Congress under Rajiv Gandhi won more seats than BJP led by Modi - Janardhan Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Mar 14: Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary on Tuesday, March 14, slammed the BJP for their claims of gaining more seats than any other party in the history of Indian politics.

Addressing mediapersons he said, "After the recently concluded elections, BJP are saying that they gave gained more seats than any other party ever. For their information, in the year 1985, Congress party led by former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi had won 411 seats all over the country as against 282 seats won by Narendra Modi. But Congress never projected it as an achievement. What has happened in Goa and Manipur is unconstitutional. The normal practice should have been followed and the leader of single largest party should have been called to form a government and prove its majority on the floor of the house,"

He also said, "I had confidence in Modi that he would give good administration, but has terribly failed in his approach. He lost an opportunity to be called as the best prime minister of India till date. We have reached a situation where people have lost faith in the government. They are also fed up of politics. Modi is known for his fierce speeches and he has the knack to bring people under his control. But Modi will not able to win the forthcoming general elections,"

When asked about Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-elections Poojary said, "Modi's speech will not make any impact in the by-elections as Siddaramaiah is enough to make Congress lose there,"

When asked about S M Krishna joining BJP, Poojary said, "S M Krishna was a very good and experienced leader, but Siddaramaiah sidelined him. It was our duty to respect S M Krishna, but Siddaramaiah did not do it. S M Krishna joined BJP just because of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah".

Karunakar Shetty, Kallige Tharnath Shetty and others were present.

Maha gyani JP is already frustrated man, so he has nothing to do in politics, just pass the time and show his whereabouts he is calling the press meat (to have Fresh Meat lunch or dinner with his few fan following). I can se only Siddaramaiah is the able leader in entire congress party to tackle communal party like BJP. He has the balls, which is lacking in other Congress leader in entire nation. He can manage to tackle cunning Yeddis and Shobas of opposition party. Other than Siddu one has the command in language and clear cut conversation skill to reply opposition accusation and give tit for tat. If Siddu is removed from state congress leadership, the party’s condition in state will become like Maha gyani Janardan Poojary. Na garka na gatka…

Forget about Modi , Poojarije. You worry about Cong, Firstly lets your comment on Rs 162crore found in Cong leader Hebbalkars house. Then comment on the UP debacle. Where does Cong go from here. Future of Cong under 50 year old Yuva Neta. Lastly why are all runnin away from Cong. If you touch these points we can call your press conference a worth while one. Simply taunting BJP and Modi will only bring you doom like it brought for you in May 2014.

Jannanna for his own good and image of the party he represents, should formally retire from politics as he is sounding more and more senile by the day. I always feel Congress should become stronger. But, with nit wits and loose cannons from top to bottom, I am saddened that it will not happen in my lifetime. Congress cannot grow by trying to pulling down BJP for the sins which itself is accused of. Only way is differentiate itself with clear political ideology that unites people and not seen as working only for some people.

Sir, I do agree with you. Off late if you listen to any speeches from Sonia to Mithun Rai , the only ingredient they have is 'Modi that , Modi this'. Thats the reason Cong is heading for dooms day. I hate to admit this but yes thats the fact. Even Mr Poojaris' weapon in 2014 election was ' Modis marital status' . He even challenged him to contest in Mlore. Modis one speech in Nehru Maidan turned the tide so much that Poojari' political career crashed to such an extent that there is no ressuruction. When will they learn????

I really think this man Mr Poojary , better retire for good, rather than insulting himself by speeches like this.

They say Rahul is Immature , Then how about poojary ?

He is more immature than Rahul it seems when u see his comments .

How can a party with so many immature politicians win elections .They are not able to see the truth .

There is some truth in Mr.Janardhan Poojary.

The fact that the BJP has won a majority on its own in the 16th Lok Sabha has, inevitably, drawn comparisons with previous elections in which parties have won a majority of seats on their own. What has not quite figured in most of these comparisons is the fact that no party has ever before won more than half the seats with a vote share of just 31%. Indeed, the previous lowest vote share for a single-party majority was in 1967, when the Congress won 283 out of 520 seats with 40.8% of the total valid votes polled.

In other words, the BJP’s 39.7% share translated into 77% seats, while the Samajwadi Party’s 28% vote share (in the constituencies where its contested) yielded just 11% of the seats.
The situation is worse for the Bahujan Samaj Party, which got only 4.7% seats for its 22% vote share, and for the Congress, who had the same vote share (in the constituencies it contested from) but less than 2% of the seats.

Notably if BJP only with success of 'demonetisation' and 'surgical strike' it would have failed. By realising the downfall party 'communalized development' in midway is introduced with Ram mandir issue.

Only difference here is Congress under Rajiv Gandhi won majority seats promising 'Roti-Kapda-makaan'. BJP victory is based on 'graveyard' politics with deep rooted fault line with dirty template of divisive politics which is dark day for India.

I am not a politician, but I studied Political Science. Mr. Modi is having a strong faith, good deterministic, excellent bossing, and act as per situation tactic. If anyone observed his speeches, his gathering style his team in election time, the way of dress, body language, and words he talks. He mastered by himself as great politicians and he is having the good mentor for his career.
About Goa Modi realized that previous CM is useless and he wants to correct it at anycost, that why he planned all this and thought Goa would be safe and develop. The same way in Manipur too.

Talking about the past is useless and baseless. We want clean water, good air to breath, peaceful shelter, and healthy food. If this is provided by BJP, Congress, or any leaders, we must appreciate and support them.

First they said BJP won’t win UP elections. Congress was dragged by their hand and legs with nose rubbing the ground and thrown out from there.
Now this old gentleman is saying BJP wouldn’t win 2019 national elections. What a joke.
Till the time Rahul Gandhi is portrayed as the face of congress, this party will never win any major elections.
Expel RG out and get some matured leader to contest in front of a lion like Namo.
Congress is not a Gandhi family property, why RG is pushed by an Italian waitress to get that seat.
I doubt he will ever win a college election as well if asked to contest, let alone national elections.
In my opinion, shashi tharoor is the man who could make a difference.
If RG still continues to contest Congress condition will just be like West Indies cricket team. Once they were attacking cricketers like Lions now they are rats with a tail between their legs.

For a moment I read it as Rahul Gandhi!
Looks like BJP here has got more ammunition
to talk after the UP debacle!
Was he not admonished and asked not to.talk
    about Siddu ?
    What now?
No urulu or maralu seve can save the Congress now
It seems only R can save it by quitting and joining M
    Is it not ?

    Jannnanna Sir,

Visionary, meaningful and appropriate reply to Modi (BJP).
Future in Congress seems to be on right track. Soneji’s request fulfilled at last.

When I was reading the first part of the news, I wanted to fire the first salvo with the way how dongis are twisting the statements as BJP actually claimed Highest seats in “UP” ever , not all over India as Poojary claimed.

However his one line in the next part of the news ” ….Siddaramaiah is enough to make Congress lose there,.." really cracked me up. HAHAHA he has a good sense of Humor also along with a loose tongue.
