Bengaluru, Mar 11: MLA and state BJP general secretary, C T Ravi's tweets, questioning the necessity for All India Congress Committee president, Sonia Gandhi, to go abroad for treatment, have attracted strong condemnation from Congress leaders.

Ravi, in a series of tweets, had wondered whether Sonia was undertaking foreign trip for getting treated or safekeeping of money she has. This tweet received many criticisms.

"Wondering if Sonia Gandhi has traveled abroad for medical treatment or transferring funds from her present accounts to safer places," he tweeted.

In another tweet, Ravi had mocked at the Congress for failing to build a proper hospital during its nearly six decades of rule in the country. "Shameless Gandhis ruled India for almost 6 decades & yet they couldn't build a hospital in India where Sonia Gandhi could get treated."

In yet another tweet, he suggested that Rahul Gandhi could have admitted his mother into Victoria Hospital here so that the chief minister could have shown personal care and concern for her treatment.

Why doesn't @OfficeOfRG admit his mother Sonia to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru? @CMofKarnataka would definitely take good care of her.

Chief minister, Siddaramaiah, said that the tweets of Ravi were irresponsible in nature. He reminded Ravi that Sonia Gandhi had sacrificed the post of the Prime Minister for the sake of the country, and felt that there is a need to be more careful when talking about a person of her stature.

Energy minister, D K Shivakumar, said that Congress party condemns the comments made by Ravi. He said he is requesting the health minister to immediately shift Ravi to National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences here.

Working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Dinesh Gundu Rao, felt that this reflects the distorted mindset of BJP leaders. "Such things happen when one's mind is full of filth," he said. He questioned the propriety of such tweets coming from people who make tall claims about Hindutva and culture. He reminded the BJP leaders that a doctor from abroad had arrived in India for operating on former Prime Minister, A B Vajpayee.

Hitting back at the Congress leaders for criticising his tweets, Ravi tweeted, "The way CONgis are making noise about my tweets on Sonia Gandhi's health, it could be true that she is unwell. I wish her speedy recovery."
