Mangaluru, Mar 6: Tamil blockbuster 'Yennai Arindhal' became only the second dubbed Kannada film to be release in the state last week. The 2015 hit movie released as 'Sathyadev IPS' at Suchitra theatre in the city on March 3.

Sathyadev IPS starring Ajith, Anushka Shetty and Trisha turned out to be blockbuster in Tamil. The movie is directed by Gautham Menon and its Kannada version is produced by G Krishnamurthy.Following protests from artists and kannada organisations, Sathyadev IPS was not released as per schedule in Bengaluru and other parts of the state. The only other dubbed Kannada movie happens to be 'Naanu Nanna Preethi' originally made in Hindi.

Speaking to Daijiworld.com, manager of Suchitra theatre Rajesh said, "Sathyadev IPS movie did average business on its first day of the release. People are not excited to watch Sathyadev IPS which is the dubbed  Kannada version of Yennai Arindhal. The theatre is witnessing minimal audience. People in Mangaluru watch Tamil movies and it looks as if they have watched the Tamil version. At this juncture, all I can say is that Sathyadev IPS may run only for a week".

Producer of Sathyadev IPS G Krishnamurthy said, "We had released 'Naanu Nanna Preethi' in 2016 which was the first ever dubbed Kannada film. It did good business. We had planned to release Sathyadev IPS in 23 theatres across the state, but could do so only in eight theatres due to opposition. We are expecting more people to watch the movie in the coming days".
