Kundapur: Miscreants burn Hitachi earth mover at Bidkalkatte

Kundapur, Mar 5: Miscreants set fire to a Hitachi earth mover near Mahalingeshwara temple, Mathyadi gram on Friday night, March 4. The earth mover which is gutted was being used in Varahi canal work.

Contractor Santhosh Shetty has been supervising the canal work at Varahi B 21 area for the last several days. He had parked the vehicle on Friday night after work and gone home. The incident came to light when the workers came back to work in the morning on Saturday, March 4.  

Hitachi owner suspects that miscreants have done it to spoil the work and due to professional jealousy. He has stated in the police complaint to Kota Police station that he has incurred a loss of more than Rs 15 lacs.

In a similar incident in the past, miscreants had broken water canal when Pravin Shetty, another contractor was conducting work. Machinery including Hitachi earth mover costing several crores were destroyed in the incident.
