Mumbai, Mar 3: Mumbai university Kannada department held literary discussion and special lecture on Wednesday March 1. Hampi Kannada University lecturer and translator Dr Vittalrao Gaekwad gave a detailed lecture on Kannada literature, translation and Kannada dalit literature.

“Devanoora Mahadeva Bangera, Ramachandrappa Chennanna Valikara, Siddaramaiah, Shivarudda Kallolikara and others have presented their own contribution to Dalit literature. Humanity is the main concern of Dalit literature,” said Gaekwad.

Kannada department head Dr G N Upadhya delivered the keynote address. Shamala Prakash sang poems of Dasa at the end of the programme. Dr Poornima S Shetty, compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks. Anith Shetty, S Nalina Prasad, Kumuda K Alva, Ganapari Mogaveera, Sudeepa Devadiga, Parasapna Durgappa Koteyavar, Chandra, Mutalika, Surekha Devadiga, Shamala Prakash, Sheela, H R Ramesh Suvarna, Dinaker Chandana and others were present.
