Beltangady, Mar 3: It is a proud moment for Mangalureans as Qatar-based entrepreneur Ashwath Hegde, hailing from Beltangady, has been listed in the 'Forbes India 30' list of young achievers.

With this, Ashwath Hegde has become the first youth from Karnataka to figure among the Under-30 achievers listed by Forbes India magazine.

Ashwath Hegde (24) who hails from Ballanja in Beltangady taluk, who has dreamt of freeing the world from plastic menace, has set up a firm, 'EnviGreen'. This firm is engaged in manufacturing plastic-free organic hand bags which have won ready acceptance in India and abroad.

Hegde had planned to manufacture plastic-free bags when studying in the city some years ago. Now he has set up an industry for the purpose, and a factory has been set up at Bengaluru for the purpose. The industry manufactures organic, environment-friendly and bio-degradable hand bags by making use of waste from different vegetation including jowar. These bags are harmless, eco-friendly and affordable.
