Bhatkal: Student thrashed for not wearing saffron shawl to college

Yahya Hallare
Daijiworld Media Network - Bhatkal (SP)

Bhatkal, Mar 2: Since the last over two weeks, students of the government first grade college at Rangikatte here have been attending college, duly wearing saffron shawls over their shoulders. On Wednesday March 1, however, four students wearing saffron shawls beat up another student who had come to the college without the shawl. The incident took an ugly turn after a police complaint was filed against the attackers.

Students supported by some Hindu outfits have been attending college with saffron shawls since the last two to three weeks, to register their protest against four Muslim guest lady lecturers coming to college with burqas. Even some lecturers were found wearing saffron shawls.

It is said that they drew inspiration from provocative statements made by MP, Anant Kumar Hegde. Although the taluk administration, police personnel and leaders of Namdhari community held meeting with the students and tried to convince them not to give rise to unnecessary dispute by wearing saffron shawls, the students had stood their ground. They had stuck to their stand that they would not relent till the Muslim lecturers attend college without burqas. As it was found that there was no restriction in the dress code of the college about the clothes that can be worn by students and teaching staff, assistant commissioner, M N Manjunath, had opined that everyone can wear the clothes of their choice. He had also warned the concerned that the guilty would be acted against strictly if peace gets disturbed on this issue.

It is said that students wearing saffron shawls had been bringing pressure on other students also to follow suit. College students, Raghavendra, Jeevan, Sandeep and Abhishek allegedly assaulted Jayant Naik, a BA degree course fourth semester student, for not wearing saffron shawl when attending the college on Wednesday. The case has been registered in the town station here.

It will be interesting to see what turn this case will take and what steps the police personnel will initiate to settle the dress code dispute.

I studied with Hindus and Muslims and never had any problems. Youth is the time where you can give maximum output to the society. So guys, think about it.
    Christian Hitler killed millions
    Nathuram Godse killed Gandhi
No one brands these community as terrorist. Kindly stop hating each other and think about something different.
State and nation is gonna reach the ditch by this. So guys, please, dont let your neighbours take over you.
India has to improve a lot. You guys might be surprised, many of the ArunachalPradesh doesnt have Electricity. If we are optimistic, the cost of every protest, strike can provide electricity, education for many. Protest is good but really.need to have power dhumb in it. Shawl, burqa is a petty issue.and .as per me should not be elevated to this level.

BHAKTS are Really in Confusing Mode, either what to Support and What to Oppose.
On One Hand MASTER is Going to Have BIRYANI, and On the Other Hand If a Girl want Peace between Countries, few Low Celebrities and Politician Abusing it.

Mr. Ananthkumar is known for his rhetoric. He must concentrate his skills in developmental activities of district he represent. Uttar-Kannada is neglected district. Lack of infrastructure and no industries.
Does Mr.Hegde posses any plan to employ these misguided youths ? I have seen these types of youth refuse to carryout the works that their forefathers used to do, such as agriculture related etc. They expect white collar job, Government job, money minting jobs without putting effort. Unfortunately they have no skill or will to learn.
These youths are used by political parties.

These are trained Goondas who doesn't come to study but to create communalism which is supported by lecturers and the outfit group and the master mind of all RSS.

When all these will end ?? When people will leave Happily ?? Why people do not want peace in their life and why they want to create violence ??

we expect good to others but others will have something else on their mind.. Clean that dirty mind for ever and live happily hereafter... Peace :)

Read the below comments of different people of your grou, compare and understand how selfish, narrow minded and biased comments of your people.

One guy says don't dictat someone what to wear and what not, at the same time another guy says women should wear full cloths....Then why do you disturb our women, when they wear what they want? It's thier freedom....This is where the logic starts. Do we have to follow what you want? Is it written anywhere in the constitution? " If you want peaceful life, don't interfere someones peaceful life"
