Udupi: Pillion rider killed in collision with pick-up truck

Udupi, Feb 28: The pillion rider of a motor bike lost his life after the vehicle in which he was seated collided with a pick-up truck near Rajeev Bhavan at Kaup on national highway 66 on Monday February 27.  

The deceased has been identified as Anand Anchan (50) from Padubidri. He died on the spot. Dinesh (40), who was riding the motor bike, survived with minor injuries.

The motor bike was moving towards Katapadi from Padubidri on Monday afternoon when a pick-up truck moving on the same direction hit the two-wheeler. Both the people on the motor bike fell to the road. The pillion rider, who sustained grievous injuries, lost his life on the spot.

Anand Anchan was a progressive farmer, and was also working as cook for marriage and other functions. He is survived by wife and three children. A case about the accident in which the driver of the pick-up vehicle has been accused or rash driving, was registered in Kaup police station.
