Karkala: Students Take Ill owing to Food Poisoning

Karkala, Feb 27: Twenty inmates of Mahatma Gandhi Boys Residential High School, located at Ayyappanagar, in Kukkundoor village, here took ill after consuming poisonous food on Tuesday February 26 night.

It is said that the students had eaten poisonous food on Tuesday night.  However, they took ill on Wednesday February 27 morning after their breakfast.

School sources said that the about 20 students started vomiting after their breakfast on Wednesday morning.  Some of them were even troubled by decentry.  All of them were immediately rushed to the hospital.  While 11 of them are still in the hospital, the rest have been discharged.

Prashanth, Rajendra, Shobaraj, Amrithesh, Lathish, Sharath, Harshith, Lokesh, Maoj, Mahendra, Vishwanath, Yogish Achraya and a few others took ill and are under medication.

The cause behind food poisoning is yet to be known.  The residential school which houses 87 boys has been in the forefront of good and quality education and has been securing good results in the annual examinations for the last few years, confirmed sources.
