Bengaluru: KPCC to seek revamp of ministry with young, honest faces

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 25: It is learnt that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has prepared an agenda for the meeting of the coordination meeting scheduled to be held here on Sunday February 26. Sources said that KPCC is insistent on giving a fresh look to the ministry by dropping those who have already served as ministers for four years, inducting of fresh faces in their place, duly giving proper regional and caste representations. It also wants to include young leaders with impeccable character in the ministry.

In its agenda proposed to be placed before the said meeting, KPCC has explained that it proposes to utilize the services of senior ministers for party's organizational work to turn the tide in favour of the party during the next assembly election. It plans to entrust not less than 15 assembly constituencies to each such former ministers and give them the responsibility of ensuring party's victory there. On the basis of their performance, a decision about whether to include them in the next ministry, if formed by the Congress, will be taken. It wants to replace these senior ministers with fresh, young faces who do not face any serious charges towards projecting a clean image in front of the people.

KPCC also wants formation of a high level committee headed by Dr B L Shankar and V R Sudarshan for publicizing people-friendly schemes implemented by the government during the last four years in preparation for the assembly election. The committee has to decide how campaigning should be undertaken in all the 224 constituencies.

KPCC has already formed four teams to choose winnable candidates in 102 constituencies in which its candidates had been defeated last time. The information this team secretly collects will have to be discussed in the coordination committee meeting. The legislators who were found to have neglected their constituencies or acted in a way which had sullied the image of themselves or their party, will be denied ticket, it says. KPCC also wants refurbishing of KPCC and a list of office bearers to be changed has already been prepared. It also wants to replace about 20 district Congress committee presidents. It seeks preference to be given to people who have been with the party since the beginning.

The coordination committee will be attended by state in-charge, Digvijay Singh, chief minister, Siddaramaiah, KPCC president, Dr G Parameshwar, some senior ministers and senior Congress leaders. How far the suggestions of the KPCC would be implemented will depend on the extent of support the agenda will get at the said meeting.

It is not right time for internal shuffling. It is time complete the promises and take the success to the common citizens of India.

Party has already lost some leaders due to last ministry shuffling. Some even crossed over to other parties. Any more shuffling at this juncture only bring dissidents within the party which make opposition camp easy with 'operation kamala'.

I would rather suggest include the young faces and promotes the experience leaders to national level. Each experience leader give them specific task and make incharge of each district.

Unlike BJP, Party does not have grassroot RSS supporters. Congress need to fill this gap and have zero tolerance against the corrupts. Also communal agenda of opposition parties exposed. Also veteran leaders speaking against the party should not be tolerated.
