Davanagere: Village accountant makes suicide attempt in office premises

Davanagere, Feb 25: A village accountant tried to end his life by consuming poison inside the taluk office premises at Honnali on Friday February 24.

The official who resorted to suicide was Chaluvaraj (30), village accountant of Gopagondahalli village in Honnali taluk. It is said that Chaluvaraj had taken part in the meeting of village accountants from the local revenue division at the taluk office. When tahsildar, N J Nagaraj, sought some file relating to the work discharged by him in the past, Chaluvaraj went to fetch the file. It is said that another village accountant who had participated in the meeting assaulted Chaluvaraj on this occasion.

Distressed by this development, Chaluvaraj tried to commit suicide, it is said. Immediately after he consumed poison, Chaluvaraj was rushed to the government hospital at Honnali. Thereafter he was moved to S S Hospital in the city for further treatment.
