Kasargod, Feb 25: A police sub-inspector, who reportedly was worried over his inability to get transferred to his home district after having been promoted, jumped in front of a train and ended his life. The incident occurred near the railway station at Trikkaripura here on Friday, February 24.

The police sub-inspector who chose to kill himself in this way was T V Bhaskaran (54). He was working as sub-inspector at Vellamunda station in Wayanad district. Bhaskaran was a native of Idayilakkad in Trikkaripura here. Eyewitnesses said that Bhaskaran came in a scooter near Trikkaripura station, parked his scooter, and jumped in front of Yashwantpura express train.

Bhaskaran was earlier working as assistant sub-inspector of Bekal station. After being promoted as sub-inspector, he had been transferred three years back to Wayanad. He ardently wanted to return to his home district before his retirement and had requested for re-transfer to his district a number of times. His colleagues said that Bhaskaran was frustrated at the lukewarm response given by his superiors for his request for a posting back to his home district.
