Bengaluru, Feb 24: Internal differences within JD(S) have reached a boiling point, even as its state president, H D Kumaraswamy, and party supremo, Deve Gowda, have been putting up brave faces. The party received another jolt on Thursday February 23, after its MLA from Devanahalli constituency, Pilla Muniswamappa, resigned from his membership of the state assembly. Muniswamappa, who has also resigned from the primary membership of the party, expressed his anguish at the way of functioning of H D Kumaraswamy.

Muniswamappa went to the residence of assembly speaker, K B Koliwad, and handed over his resignation from the assembly. In the resignation letter, he expressed his strong reservation about the functioning style of state president of his party, H D Kumaraswamy. It is being said that the chances of accepting his resignation are remote, as he has given 11 reasons for his resignation and technically it is hard to accept it.

"My decision to resign from the assembly is final and not open for change. If there are technical difficulties for accepting it, I will tender another resignation letter that conforms to the rules," he said. There are rumours that both Congress and BJP leaders are in touch with him.

Assembly speaker, Koliwad, who confirmed having received the resignation letter, said that steps will be taken on the basis of the letter as per rules. "I have asked Muniswamappa to reconsider his decision to resign from the assembly. If he does not withdraw the resignation till Friday, further action on the letter will be taken as per rules," he stated.

It is gathered that Pilla Muniswamappa is livid at the fact that a local leader from Devanahalli, Nisarga Narayanaswamy, has been admitted into the JD(S) and he has been promised assembly ticket from the party for the next assembly election. Top leaders of JD(S) and their local counterparts have been keeping touch with the MLA in an effort to woo him back into the party. The leaders who rushed to his residence at Yalahanka here urged him to reverse his decision. Pilla Muniswamappa, who came under tremendous pressure, suffered from chest pain after which he was admitted into a hospital where he was provided treatment.
