Mangaluru: 29-year-old dies on spot in accident near Alake

Mangaluru, Feb 23: A youth lost his life in a tragic accident near Alake here on Thursday February 23 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh (29), a resident of Kudroli.

It is said that when Ganesh reached near Alake, he lost balance and fell off his two-wheeler. At that moment, a truck that was passing by him in the opposite direction ran over him, killing him on the spot.

Traffic was affected for sometime following the incident.

 

West traffic police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

    in the name of making good roads, this road builders are just digging roads & putting bitumen layers to it again & again, accidents will be pretty much more now for eg : Bajpe to Kaikamba road is being made into bitumen roads, both sides were dug up and all the stones and pebbles from the digging was on road. half of the roads are filled up with cement powder which they have dropped on every turnings and now they are started layering bitumen to roads where half of road is occupied by their vehicles & the other half is completely filled with liquid bitumen & stones on which two wheelers will skid & pretty much a experienced driver can also fall, its just a accident in making....

    P.s: in the name of renovating Bajpe bus stand, they have just created a mass hysteria now. the bus stand now has two entries/exits to it & the parking of 4 wheelers beside it on road completes the whole thing..

    Very sad incident,
    Our some youth are busy with who is wearing what dress?
    who is staying in another family's house etc. Why can't they come out of the shel and do something better for the public awareness, our demand for basic rights like drinking water, roads development, to meet some authorities to do their right job in right time not after one century etc.

    Its really sad news but our youths/young people should observe traffic discipline but not doing any circus on roads and the result will be one loses life like this.

    Eh Guru, I don't mind doing any job, and I don't feel ashamed like you. I want training from a Road sweeping Guru like you to do this job as social work and not to earn money like you by sweeping roads in Mangalore. If not high qualification, but with my limited qualification I have earned enough for myself and even my grand children. Eh Guru, remember one thing , to go to other countries also one needs ability and not like you.

    When I was in vacation at mangalore I have seen most of these two wheeler riders are reckless and not aware of traffic rules. Many a times I watched these riders have close shave for accident. Also everyone cannot blame heavy vehicle drivers they dont have disc brakes to stop the vehicle to sudden halt as light vehicles n bikes. People should be aware of traffic rules.

    Can Mangaluru RTO provide a statistics of road deaths during the past 2 years ? I am not surprised if the majority of casualties are 2 wheel riders hit by trucks, tippers, tankers and buses. Something needs to be done quickly to discipline and regulate drivers of these big vehicles so they dont behave like Goondas on road and kill people.

    Every day one reads about these accidents. It is time that Law Enforcement department evolves some ways to restrict reckless driving. It may be that in this particular instance it is difficult to evaluate and come to a conclusion as who is to be blamed. In any case two wheeler, three wheeler drivers and bus drivers seem to be threats even in the City of Mangalore. It is time that more well meaning persons join the Traffic Wardens Squad and help the department of traffic

    yes it was his fate ,but I feel condition of the road need to be blamed too ,alake road is undergoing renovation concrete road is put over one side other side still left for curing, but near bridge its left as its is near bridge where there is no road it has become pile of mud and stones which might have lead him to loose balance on scooter. this area is prone for such incidents. authorities need to look after this and even traffic department should see that only one side vehicles are allowed and trucks and other side vehicle need to be diverted to any alternate road.

    It's mere negligence of mangalore city corporation for not the road levelled and due to concreting of roads in alake has caused this incident...Atleast after this the city corporation should take action seeing that commutators are not affected due to repair of road...RIP

    4 wheelerz ezpeciaaly the current big xuvs nd sort. Heavy vehicles buses are actually the threats to two wheelers. Stop using those nd there wont be deaths due to two wheeler accidents

    How do you expect lower middle class people to commute?
    Wait for the bus which comes on its time and goes through it designated route?
    Look at the condition of the Mangalore roads.
    Clearly a case of negligence from the officials which claimed this innocent life.
    Do not blame 2 wheelers blindly.
