Mangaluru: Kalia Rafiq murder - Blade Sadiq held, total arrests go up to 5

Mangaluru, Feb 22: Relating to the brutal murder of rowdy sheeter, Kalia Rafiq, police personnel attached to the city crime branch here have succeeded in arresting another accused.

The person now taken into the custody is Sadiq alias Blade Sadiq. The number of persons arrested in connection with the said murder has now gone up to five.

Kalia, it is said, was murdered by a gang led by Kasai Ali alias Noor Ali, of Rowdy Gang based in Uppala, in connection with enmity arising out of the murder of Noor Ali's brother in the past. The police have recovered a pistol from Blade Sadiq. Sadiq, a native of Vakodangazhi, was living in a flat at Vittal. He faces several cases relating to murder, murder attempt, assault, vandalism, robbery etc. He also has been booked under Goonda Act.

As per information, Kalia's associates had undertaken a search operation in and around Vittal sometime back, in an effort to eliminate Sadiq, who was named as main accused in a case of assault which happened near Kanyana, Vittal. Sadiq had vanished upon getting information that he was being hunted. He then joined hands with Kasai gang, which happens to be the rival gang of Kalia gang, in its effort to kill Kalia.

In connection with Kalia's murder, Noor Ali and Ravoof from Uppal as well as Padmanabha and Rashid from the city had been arrested earlier.
