Beltangady, Feb 21: Police personnel attached to Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided the office of Tannirpantha gram panchayat in the taluk on Monday, February 20 and began verifying the records and documents. The bureau had received complaint about irregularities said to have taken place in the gram panchayat office.

Ashraf from Tannirpantha had written to the ACB, alleging that the gram panchayat here had issued door numbers to five houses built in government land near Kalleri quarters that were not backed by any documents. He had said that the officials had misused their power in doing so. He also had accused the panchayat of indulging in financial fraud by putting up a board to a community hall built in private land, showing it as panchayat community hall.

The officials conducted the raid to find out the truth behind this complaint.
