Mangaluru, Feb 21: Representative of Kodethurguthu lineage, Sanath Kumar Shetty, took over charge as the new hereditary trustee of Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple, Kateel in the taluk. Shetty became eligible for the post, having been the senior-most member of Kodethur family.
As per custom, Shetty offered puja to the Goddess before officially entering the office and taking over charge. The post of the hereditary trustee had fallen vacant after the earlier incumbent, Dr K Raveendranath Punja of Kodethurguthu lineage, passed away on February 2 this year.
On this occasion, temple hereditary trustee, Vedamurty Vasudeva Asranna, priest, Harinarayanadasa Asranna, former minister, K Amarnath Shetty, trustee of Mangaladevi temple, Ramanath Hegde, trustee of Bappanadu Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple, Manohar Shetty, cine actor, Rohit Kumar Kateel and others were present.
