BJP aspirant in Ulhasnagar attacked


Ulhasnagar, Feb 21 (TOI): A day ahead of the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation polls, Dinesh Rai a candidate of the BJP, was attacked.Rai, who is contesting the election from panel number 7, is admitted to Central Hospital and his condition is said to be stable.

He has alleged that RPI candidate Bhagwan Bhalerao is behind the assault. The incident took place in Durgapada in Ulhasnagar on Monday at 2pm. When Rai learnt that Bhalerao's supporters were distributing liquor and money to voters, he visited the area. "Two people wearing helmets on a bike attacked me with a sharp weapon," said Rai. Bhalerao denied the allegation that his supporters were behind the attack. A case is yet to be registered.
