Children's accounts to come under I-T scanner

New Delhi, Feb 20 (DHNS): Bank accounts in the name of children and a sudden surge of balance in them in the weeks after November 8 demonetisation will now be scrutinised by income tax authorities.

Swollen zero balance Jan Dhan accounts will also come under scanner as the I-T department is preparing to send emails to assessees whose deposits do not match their tax-paying profile.

As part of the Centre’s campaign against black money, authorities have already started questioning deposits of over Rs 5 lakh after November 9 when Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes ceased to be legal tender, and December 30 when the window for their deposits ended.

Now, the I-T department is preparing to tighten vigil on deposits that are less than Rs 5 lakh against assesses’ tax profile. “Not only the savings and current accounts, but also the accounts in the name of children which appear to have been misused during the seven-week window will come under scrutiny,” an official told DH.

The department has already sought explanation through text messages and e-mails to eight lakh people whose post-note ban deposits do not match with their tax-paying behaviour.

It is now verifying over Rs 4.5 lakh crore of suspicious deposits made by those 18 lakh people and will send letters to those who have not responded to its messages and e-mails.

The department will collect all such information about assessees now, but action against them will continue after March 31 as the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) runs till the end of March, the official said.

Under PMGKY, those with unaccounted cash were given a chance to come clean by paying 50% of such cash as tax, penalty and surcharge, while parking an additional 25% in a non-interest bearing bank account for four years.

Parliament earlier this month had passed a bill which made holding of more than 10 scrapped notes of Rs 500/1,000 denomination punishable with a minimum fine of Rs 10,000.

It was tradition in India to maintain secret account in every family for the future of their children.

As the cost of living has gone up earning become hard. Once in family father is the only sole breadwinner.Later mother who use to take care household activities became working woman and children joined to support the family income.Citizens of Indian diversified their investment for the good of education, shelter and health care for old age.

Even after 3 years in office PM Modi's government can't even bring single rupees of 'black money' from tax havens which they promised to bring in 100 days coming to office.Whereas 9 lakh crores of bad loans of public sector banks bad loans nowhere to be recoverable. Election funding , public and media spending has overburden the government cash chequer. Banks have already honoured corporate defaulter as 'willful' and government waived of the bad loans.

Now savings became 'black money' for the government which was kept for the future of their children's savings by their parents. Certainly it is going to be 'cashless' losing their savings for ever.

Then, why was there the drum-beating that the money will be brought back within 100 days from coming to power ? Whether one gets 15L or not, is irrelevant.

Why fooling the public for the sake of votes ?? People will work and earn anyway. Did they start working only after May 2014 ?

Sometimes wonder why not a single politician was not in line to withdraw cash ? Either they have enough money stacked under their bed or they do not eat. They just breath air and survive. Poor people are punished over and over again with every new law. Congress looted for 60 years and stashed money in Swiss account. Robert Vadra involved in land mafia. Why the government with majority can not disclose their assets or arrest any one of them ? Why Anna Hazare is vanished post election ? Why thirpat baba is silent on black money ? Election is over. They got their share for showing Congress as the only party hoarding black money and bringing most cunning and illiterate party to power. Yet, there are blind bhakts who says achche din aayenge. Black money will come back.

Everybody having money must be ready to provide answers as to the source of their money. If "children" earned lakhs of rupees, they should be able to explain it. All of a sudden Children's Account balance is going up after Demonetization and by doing so you are hiding black money and challenging the govt to find it.
