ISI copies Rs 2,000 note features; IB and NIA caution Centre

New Delhi, Feb 19 (Agencies) : The Intelligence Bureau and National Investigation Agency cautioned the Centre that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) successfully managed to copy at least 8 to 10 security features of the Rs 2,000 new currency note that were introduced in November after demonetisation drive. One of the objectives of the demonetisation was to crackdown on fake currency, most of which was in Rs 500 denomination.

In a recently classified note to the Centre, details of which have been accessed by this newspaper, the agencies have stated that “the ISI and its operatives, however, have still not been able to get hold of fine quality of paper used for printing the new currency notes. The government must ensure and take immediate preventive measures to ensure that the ISI or its operatives are not able to get the paper from those who supply this to the Indian printing press or mint.’’

The NIA, in a joint operation with the BSF earlier this week, had seized high-quality Rs 2,000 notes from Malda area near the border that were being smuggled in from Bangladesh. Sources said the notes were of “very high quality” while the miscreants had even managed to incorporate “a number of safety features, although the quality of the paper was not very good.’’

It was against this backdrop, sources said, that the agencies cautioned the government to ensure that proper safety measures are in place so that the ISI operatives are not able to source the same quality of paper used in India.

ISI mint likely on Karachi outskirts

Top intelligence sources claimed that in the past also the ISI and some members of the Dawood Ibrahim gang have made attempts to procure ink, paper and machinery from the form the same source that was at some point in time also supplying it to the Indian printing press.

“Now that there has been a case where subversive elements have managed to copy the safety features in Rs 2,000 notes and would be trying for the new Rs 500 notes also. We just want all government agencies to make their security arrangements absolutely foolproof to ensure that the ISI or its associates don’t succeed this time around,” a senior intelligence official said.

Both the IB and the NIA have also stated that ISI already has set up a state-of-the-art printing facility on the outskirts of Karachi where members of the D-company have also been roped in.

“We suspect the Karachi facility would surely be used for printing the fake new Indian currency and ISI has also roped in the Dawood gang for it,'' the official added.

These agencies also suspect that the fake notes being routed through the porous Bangladesh border were also sourced from the Karachi press considering the good quality of notes.

One of the objectives of the demonetization was to crackdown on the fake currency, most of which was in Rs 500 and in 1,000 denomination. By printing Rs. 2,000 denomination notes they wanted to help and facilitate black money hoarders to hoard more money. If you cancel Rs. 1,000 note and introduce Rs. 2,000 note what will happen? This is nothing but the biggest scam of the century.

Don't worry Friends, in the first demonetisation, Feku made all BLACKMONEY HOLDERS to stand in the "Q" from morning to evening just for Rupees 2 thousand for their own hard earned money to withdraw and proved beyond doubt that poor and working middle class people are the Real Black Money holders. In the second demonitisation again Feku will prove that printing & circulating Fake currency are also the same people, to whom he made to stand in "Q" in the first demonitisation.

This is what happens when one takes decisions as per his personal interests and not the interest of the country. Demonetization, as I termed earlier too, is more a PR exercise than an economic exercise. It was and is aimed at satisfying the '56' inch ego of an individual who has scant respect for Democratic set-up. They said demonetization will curb fake currency! Alas! Within couple of months counterfeit currency with almost all features of the new currency is in the market. They boasted that demonetization will curb terrorism. But infiltration along the border, terror attacks are still going on unhindered. They announced demonetization succeeded in calming down burning Kashmir. However Kashmir is burning again and Pakistan flags are displayed in the valley again. They said, they needed 50 days to put everything back on roll but even after 100 days, most of the ATMs in the country, specially in North India are still under 'maintenance'. They said demonetization will put an end to black market and those with black money will be behind bars. But even after 100 days of demonetization, not a single major black money case has been registered in the country and no single black money hoarder is brought to the books. So what did the 'demonetization' achieve other than 'chest-thumping and fist-pumping? The person who took this disastrous decision is unable to answer the Parliament and throughout the Parliament session stayed out of the Parliament without answering a single query on Demonetization. What a pity that the largest Democracy of the world, has elected a PM who is scared to address press conferences but thunders in election rallies, who instead of answering and addressing the concerns raised by the Opposition, displays 'street-rowdy-like' attitude and taunts them. He is more like a street rowdy who wants to take revenge on the Opposition rather than a PM who is ready to address the concerns of the people and the Opposition

Since we are moving to digital mode, government should withdraw both 500/- and 2000/- denomination notes from April onwards. Keep only 100/- rupees notes as highest denomination. That's good enough.
