Udupi: Man looking after grazing cattle crushed by train

Udupi, Feb 16: Sampat Kumar Shetty (27), son of Santosh Shetty, resident of Havaralu in the taluk, died after a train crushed him on Wednesday, February 15. The incident happened at Kavadi near Yadthady village.

The youth, who was good at studies and holds a diploma, was working for a Bengaluru-based company since some years. He had come to his native place on leave four days back. He was standing near the railway tracks, looking after the cattle of his house which were left for grazing nearby, when the train plying to Mangaluru to Karwar came by. Shetty perhaps did not notice the arrival of the train, and his body was crushed and pieces of the body were scattered around.

The deceased has left behind parents, a brother, and a sister. The family was largely dependent on him financially. A report about the accident was registered in Kota police station.

    sad incident.I can only think why he didnt hear train nearing and nice,because he must have had his earphone on,and was playing in his mobile?Otherwise I can not explain why it came so.Heartfelt sympathy to the family.may his soul rest in peace.

    A tragic end of a young man who was crushed by an oncoming train which he did not notice while he was grazing his cattle. RIP.

    Sad incident. My heartfelt condolence to family of deceased boy. I could not understand why was he standing on the railway track so carelessly. No one should be near to the track as any train may pass any time. We should be very careful while cross railway track.
