Mumbai, Feb 10: The Maharashtra State Co-operative Banks Association Limited, here held annual awards function. Model Bank was selected for excellent bank award for collection of more than 500 crore deposits.

The 21st annual awards programme was held at Ravindra Natyamandira auditorium, Prabhadevi, Dadar west on Friday February 10. Former chief minister of Maharashtra, Prathviraj Chavan presided over the programme.

Lokmath daily newspaper editor Girish Kuber and Banker's association executive president Subhash Ramdev Joshi presented the felicitation plaque to Model Bank executive president Albert W D'Souza and congratulated him.

Association vice president Prachit A Poreddivar, chief executive officer Swathi Pande, Model Bank vice president William Sequeira, Bank's CEO and general manager William L D' Souza were present on the dais.

Banker's association convener Dr Shashi B Ahire, Dr Vinayak Yashwanth Tarale, Madhukarrao V Javanjal, Vikas Balachandra Savanth, Vishwas Takur Vasanth Guikhedker, Bharath Mali and others were present.

The bank was started as the Mangaluru Catholic Cooperative Bank by catholic community leaders and later got itself established as Model Co-operative Bank Limited. It had celebrated its centenary last year. The bank has 21 branches in Maharashtra. It had Rs 500 crore business during the financial year 2015-2016 and has earned the trust of customers and shareholders.
