Bantwal: Three injured as clash erupts near Kalladka over trivial issue

Bantwal, Jan 23: A group clash erupted over a trivial issue of traffic jam at Goltamajal near Kalladka here on Monday January 23 night, resulting in three persons sustaining injuries.

Jagadish and Sunil who were in a car, and Abbas, the driver of a pick-up vehicle were injured in the clash. While Jagadish and Sunil have been admitted to Bantwal government hospital, Abbas was taken to a private hospital in Thumbay.

The incident took place at Bolantoor cross at Goltamajal. It is said that the car and the pick-up vehicle collided in a bid to give way for other vehicles, following which an argument erupted between the occupants of the vehicles. The quarrel soon snowballed into a full-fledged fight, said eyewitnesses.

Soon, people gathered and the situation threatened to take a communal turn with each side attacking the other. A tense atmosphere prevailed at the spot.

Bantwal town, Bantwal rural and Vittal police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police (SP) Bhushan Borase visited the spot and directed the police officials to take steps to ensure that no untoward incidents occur further.

Based on a complaint filed by Jagadish in Bantwal town police station, the police have registered a case and investigations are on, informed inspector Nandakumar.
