Udupi, Jan 21: A youngster was killed in an accident inside Manipal University campus late evening on Friday, January 20.
The deceased has been identified as Christon Jonathan (19), a student of Manipal School of Communications.
His friend Ashwin was injured in the accident.
It is said that a tractor was fogging the campus due to which the visibility was low. At this time, Jonathan, who was riding his bike with Ashwin sitting pillion, rammed into the tractor.
The impact of the collision was such that Jonathan was killed on the spot. Ashwin who sustained injuries was admitted to hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.
Jonathan was the son of Johnson and Monica Machado from Dubai. He had studied in Dubai till 12th before shifting to Manipal. The family is orginally from Shirva.
Ashwin too is a resident of Shirva, source said.
Manipal police have registered a case.
