Sullia: Bajrang Dal leader beaten up, arrested for harassing women in drunken stupor

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Jan 19: Members of the general public thrashed Santosh Shetty Madavu, reportedly a leader of Bajrang Dal, who used to get drunk often and harass women besides seeking their cellphone numbers.

It is said that he frequently used to trail the women, and the locals had been fed up by his behaviour.

The people then handed him over to the police. The incident happened at Bellare in the taluk.

Frustrated locals from Bellare on Thursday January 19 beat up Santosh, and a video of this incident has gone viral in social media.

Bellare police, who have taken him into custody, are questioning him. Santosh, a local, was habitually harassing girl students of college, it is gathered.

Bajrang Dal local unit however said that Santosh was not a member of the outfit, let alone its leader.

This person should be awarded to take care of females. He was escorting ladies only to protect them. BD has noble members only and all are pious. We cannot see any bad prson in BD. This person might belong to other organisations and using BD name to defame the since and patriot desh bhakt organisation. BD is not involved in any wrong doing and they are like saint. Nalin should make a press conference for release of this person otherwise threaten to burn out whole district.

No, this man was protecting women and taking their number so that he can keep an eye on them. Surely Bajrang dal people who are protectors of women and religion don't do anything like this. Next Yeddi will visit police station to release him and followed by visit by Shobakka.

People in the video assaulting him should be arrested immediately.

If you see anyone doing wrong.... please call police. Simply because a person does wrong doesnt mean that public has got license to beat him up.

Try to act like a civilized people.

2 notable things - He seems to be a outsider so people dare to thrash him. If he was a local, no one wouldn't have touched him. Rather they would join his side. This is the habit of people in DK.

Second, the police come and they dont take control. They let the people do the justice. This is really dangerous as police shouldnt be allowing anyone to take law in their hands, what ever be the kind of culprit.
