Jallikattu matter is sub-judice, will support you: PM tells Tamil Nadu CM

New Delhi, Jan 19 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually indicated his government's inability to promulgate an ordinance on allowing Jallikattu noting that the matter is sub-judice as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam met him here seeking Centre's intervention.

"While appreciating the cultural significance of Jallikattu, the Prime Minister observed that the matter is at present sub-judice," the PMO said after the meeting.

At the same time, it said, "The Centre would be supportive of the steps taken by the state government."

As protests demanding the lifting of the ban on bull taming sport Jallikattu spread across Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister rushed here last night to meet the Prime Minister with a request for ordinance.

With regard to the drought situation in Tamil Nadu, Modi assured Paneerselvam that all possible assistance would be provided to the state.

A central team would be deputed to Tamil Nadu shortly to assess the drought situation, the PMO said.

I wish even we Mangaloreans also had the same fighting spirit like Tamilians to save Nethravathi river. Irony if Veerappa Moily and DVS Gowda had ditched Tamilians or the people of Mysore or Mandya they would'nt have allowed to enter their land. But we Mangaloreans are getting our roads(Kadri Concrete) get Inaugurated by Moily.

In this modern scientic times people are still obsessed by generation old cultural (provocative) game called Jallikattu. Poor dumb anymals are senselessly tortured and used for fun and public entertainment. These bulls act/react because of force used by humans, what elese they can do? Who can understand their pain and tears! Find out some alternative sport to have fun. There are mechanized bulls to check human endurance. We are trying to be digital and majority of people still live premitive age, culture and beliefs. They must obey SC decision. Bring army to tame such guys. They will obey or listen.

The TN CM met the PM to address the issue well in advance, this is called proactiveness. Even Jayalalita too handled things very efficiently by dragging the Central before hand in each and ever sensitive issue, thus earning an edge on the Cauvery issue. While our sleeping CM Siddu only woke on in the last minute after xhit hit the roof. Siddu has to learn from Pannerselvam.
