Mumbai: Christian representation in elections urged

Mumbai, Jan 18: Janet L D'Souza, former president of Mumbai region women's unit, former vice president of Maharashtra state minority commission has urged Congress(I) leaders to provide opportunity to Christian community members eager to serve, to stand for elections under Congress (I) party in the upcoming elections.

A delegation led by her met Maharashtra region Congress committee president Ashok Chavan at the Congress office situated at Gandhi Bhavan, Nariman Point and submitted an appeal to that effect.

Congress leaders Sachin Savanth, Bhyayi Jagatap, D D Tribhuvan, Bombay East Indian Association president William D'Souza, Catholic Sabha Mumbai president Rita D'Sa and Michael Furtado were present.

Lawrence D'Souza, Mulund, Kurla West Holy Cross Church parish priest Fr Pascal Serrao, Dolphy D'Souza, Prescilla W Bothello, Gyabi D'Mello Kurla, Winny D'Souza, Dan Ageiro, Advocate Rafael D'Souza and other elite were present.
