Mangaluru, Jan 16: The city crime branch (CCB) on Monday January 16 arrested a Ghana national for trying to sell cocaine, a high value contraband substance, worth Rs 5.5 lac.

The accused has been identified as Chigozie Francis Christopher (37).

Based on credible information that a Ghana national would be peddling cocaine brought via Goa to Mangaluru, the CCB police caught Christopher at Lobo Lane in Mallikatta here and seized cocaine worth Rs 5.5 lac from him.

Christopher had come to India about two years ago on business visa. After his visa expired, he did not return to his home country and started living in India illegally, selling cocaine to customers.

Apart from cocain, the police also recovered two mobile phones and Rs 3,300 in cash from the accused.

Police have learnt that Christopher had come to Mangaluru at least two or three times in the past and sold cocaine to several persons here.

The accused and the seized items have been handed over to Mangaluru east police for further investigation.

The operation was conducted on the directions of police commissioner Chandra Sekhar, and under the guidance of DCPs Shantharaju and Sanjeeva Patil, and led by CCB sub-inspector Shyam Sunder.

    Ok, IPS Rita.

I will ask the police to ask him the questions about his business in India. Thanks for enlightening me. Otherwise the police would have just talked about cricket and bollywood and let him go.

Also thank you very much for letting us know that he needs to be punished for his crime and then deported back after that. Without your insight we would have just let me do Mangalore Darshan and let him go back on his own whenever he is ready.
