Shoe thrown at Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal: Accused is AAP convenor


Ludhiana, Jan 11 (TNN): Hours after an unemployed man allegedly threw a shoe towards Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal at a function in Isru of Khanna about fifty kilometres from here, police said that the youth is convenor of Aam Aadmi party in Dhanaula, Barnala.

The man was identified as 36-year-old Vikram Kumar of Dhanaula in Barnala.

Sources said that the chief minister had come to observe the death anniversary of Kartar Singh Isru, freedom fighter of the village when the man hurled a shoe towards him but it missed the target.

DIG Ludhiana Range, Gurinder S Dhillon told TOI that the accused is convenor of AAP in Dhanaula and that his aim was to grab attention to generate funds and to rise in hierarchy. He added that the accused who joined AAP few months ago and was working at a cloth shop, was accompanied by three other members including Hardeep Singh, Mahinder Pal Dhanjian who recorded the footage of the shoe-throw drama.
