Rahul Gandhi Takes 'Mitron' Jibe at PM Modi, Accuses BJP of Spreading Fear

New Delhi, Jan 11 (News 18) : Mounting criticism against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation drive, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that PM Modi was dreaming when he thought he could make India a cashless economy.

Rahul, while taking a dig at PM Modi, uttered 'Mitron' a term PM uses often in his addresses to a cheering audience at Talkatora stadium.

"Congress workers must go to villages and tell people how BJP and RSS are destroying the country by spreading fear and hatred, he said, adding, "BJP thinks that they can rule this country with fear and hatred... but we will defeat and remove them.”

"We will defeat their ideas and philosophy," he said.

In his scathing criticism of Modi government, Rahul took potshots at BJP leaders Janardhan Reddy and Union minister Nitin Gadkari, alleging they spent crores on their daughters' weddings even as the common man suffered severely under cash crunch.

Implying some people were in the know of the demonetisation move, Rahul said: "Bengal BJP was depositing money in banks before PM's demonetisation speech... BJP was investing in properties across the country before demonetisation."

Rahul also highlighted corruption that came to light during the 50-day period sought by PM to end the cash crunch. "How many corrupt were spotted in the ATM lines? They were all using back doors to access banks," he said.

Earlier in the day, Rahul had alleged that after demonetisation PM Modi is hiding behind "home-made economists" like Baba Ramdev and Mohan Bhagwat.

Tearing into PM's various schemes and initiatives, Rahul had said: "The PM can do yoga very well, but have you noticed he cannot do the padmasana (lotus position)? I notice these things. Similarly, when he went with a broom to talk about cleaning up India, did you see how he was holding the broom? Nothing gets cleaned if you hold the broom like that."

Modi weakened RBI, ‘acche din’ only when Congress comes to power: Rahul

New Delhi, Jan 11 (Agencies) : Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of weakening institutions like the Reserve Bank on India (RBI).

“BJP, RSS and Narendra Modi have weakened institutions like RBI. People of country are wondering when are 'Acche din going to come'. I'll tell them it will come when Congress comes to power again,” said Rahul Gandhi addressing the Congress National Convention in the national capital.

He continued his attack on the PM and said that demonetisation was a ‘personal decision’ made by Modi.

“Today I read in newspaper that PM said he will transform India. But PM needs to ask himself why suddenly auto sales have fallen.”

Quoting figures, Rahul said automobiles sale has dropped by 60% in the country. "We have gone back 16 years, the backbone of India's economy has been broken" he added.

Rahul has just returned from a week-long foreign vacation, for which he was criticised as five states are going to the polls.

Total chaos all over India because of demonetization. What Modi dreamt of (to benefit from demonetization) is going against his reputation & BJP rule. Mamata is on the verge of exploding. Country is deviating on political grounds. BJP should cooperate with other parties rather than trying practice dictatorial 'one man show'. Waste of time and energy. I hope the leader will come to understanding and work for the benefit of the country, instead 'thu thu me me' natak.

I fully agree with you Lydia. we got to be thankful to the congress as they were open minded and wanted development for India after Independence, It would have been easy to make the country into present Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. but on the contrary we have seen development in the country. Each one needs to prepare a time line from the time they were born till date and see what changes they have seen in their life time and then they will be able to appreciate what the government had done for us. The govt had given major emphasis on education from the beginning n dis the reason we saw the change after few decades where millions were able to show their class in foreign countries, This education emphasis was missed out by some countries and is the reason they are still backward, even if they start today they could few decades to reach where we are today. We should also understand that it is not easy to change a big country as India and with 1.2 Billion population, many religions, caste, culture etc. it would take time to bring everyone to a certain level, Things could be very different in the next 10-15 yrs as India will have maximum youth who are educated and who would take this country forward as the founders dreamt of .

I have a small excerpt, rest you google and read :
    Quote
Less than a year ago, the BJP described MGNREGA as the ‘living monument of failures’ of the UPA government which had launched it. Now, the party described it as the ‘nation’s pride.’ What made the BJP-led NDA government change its stance on the job guarantee scheme?

Don't you dare thinking that BJP slogged tooth & nail to do the administration - it has continued from where UPA left ! Whereas Congress brought up the nation and its economy from the rags the British left !

Rahul Gandhi got back from his ‘mystery’ sojourn abroad today. It must be very discomforting to disappear and do so after creating a froth of wrath about the country going down the tube save for his hand on the brakes and then return to find the country still in one piece and not in a state of collapse.

Not just there and carrying along to the best of its ability, but that the country did not notice Rahul Gandhi had even gone somwehere. And if it did notice, it did not really care whether he was in situ or gallivanting around the world.

Only media seems to retain a certain fascination.
