Beltangady: Rape attempt on minor girl - Bajrang Dal activist arrested

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Dec 28: A person who reportedly tried to rape a fourth standard girl student, was arrested by the police personnel of Dharmasthala station on Tuesday December 27. The accused has been identified as Umesh (25), an auto rickshaw driver.

Reportedly, the girl was alone with her younger sister at home, when the accused tried to rape her. The incident is said to have occurred on December 24.

The girl happens to be a resident of Mapalaje in Nidle village. Umesh reportedly entered her house illegally before attempting this heinous crime. The girl shouted for help, at which the accused is said to have threatened the girl against passing on this information to others, before escaping. The mother of the girl lodged a police complaint on the same. It is said that the family was under pressure from Bajrang Dal, of which Umesh happens to be an activist, not to file police complaint, and that there was delay in registering the complaint.

The Dharmasthala police have booked the accused under different provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Reportedly, efforts are on to save Umesh, a close associate of Bajrang Dal leader from Dharmasthala, Bhaskar, from getting punished for this offence. Bajrang Dal activists are stated to be making efforts to dissuade the complainants from pursuing the case.

As per information, the complaint was made on December 24 itself, but under pressure from interested quarters, Dharmasthala police were trying to bail out the accused. However, deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Ravish C R, who came to know about this development, visited Dharmasthala police station, took to task the police for their lapse and instructed them to file the case, it is said.

The accused has been remanded to 15 days judicial custody. DySP Ravish and circle inspector, Nagesh Kadri, are investigating the case.

What`s with highlighting his affiliation to Bajrang Dal? He did not do this act because he was a BD member. He did it because he is a horrible human being.

I agree with most what Shankar has commented over here except for shooting perverts on sight.

The above part what i typed before reading the whole article ... now after reading it,

I am disappointed with police again. Police who was responsible for delayed action needs to be suspended immediately.

Now as for bajrang dal they are a gang of thugs themselves. Law enforcement authorities need to clam down on these thugs and put them behind bars(i mean jail). What they did in this particular incident was disgusting.

Bottom line is that the highlighting of the affiliation was deserved in this regard.

Hope our leaders guide their followers in using their energies in "nation-building", which is the need of the hour. There are countless challenges confronting our country, and now is the time to make a start in using our time & energy in tackling these.

If not, India's future would definitely be in jeopardy.

Shame on people who take this opportunity to spit on Bajarangdal.
In the course of bad mouthing about Bajarangdal with which the culprit is associated, you are diluting the heinous, shameless act of this pervert.
How sick minded person he might be for attempting rape on a kid!!
Put him in Mangalore jail and let some convicts or under trials kill him right there!

Do you remember the recent vandalizing of a statue in a church and the hue and cry here in this forum before the culprit was arrested?

Once the identity of the culprit was in light, everyone shut their mouths.
Do we have to infer that there is different rules for Christians and non-Christians for the same crime?

    @ Shankar,

    you rightly nail it..,

but let me continue little bit from where you left the story narrated by your good selves, which is doing the round in the informal domain ...,
here we go...., it is also true that the accused & culprit in the case was well mentored, monitored & managed by the self proclaimed patriot right wing aligned persons/parties (though i am not privy to such news or views.., just a food for thought, as it is human tendency to ively doctor/twist conveniently to cause inconvenience...,).

jai ho.., take it easy man..,

Shankar Bhai, church was not vandalized. The statue was fallen while changing its position. It was done by a christian under the influence alcohol. Since he is a christian, it is an internal issue, like dispute within the family. The family issue is resolved among family members.
