A Tribute To Blasius M.D’Souza. An excellent orator,an able administrator, a veteran Congressman, a seasoned legislator,an active social worker and powerful community leader .Such was the multi faceted personality of Blasius D'Souza, whose contribution to City of Mangalore as a municipal councillor, President of the Municipal Council, legislator, Cabinet Minister ,and later as MLC will always be remembered by the citizens for many years to come.

A politician with a clean image, impeccable honesty and unblemished record which is a rare achievement that very few can project in today's complex scenario. May His Dear Departed Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

I am saddened to hear of Mr. Blasius D'Souza's death. I met Mr. D'Souza six years ago at the Mangalore Cheshire Home, of which he was the Chairman, along with my friends from Canada, and we were shown around the home.

When I visited the home again last month I was unable to meet him as I was told he was in poor health. May God give his soul eternal rest! My sincere condolences to his family. During my early days in Mangalore (we lived in Kankanady, not far from his parents' house)

I had known his father Mr. A.R. D'Souza as a very enterprising businessman, who had a handloom mill and a cloth store in Hampankatta. I also extend my sympathies to the management and staff of the Mangalore Cheshire Home.

Way back in 1959 when I was a fresher in PUC in St. Aloysius College, Blasius entered our class and gave a stunning but brief speech on his pursuit to gain the position of College Union President as he did then.

The speech was such that the then maths professor Mr. Rasquinha immediately hailed the speech as a brilliant one and as for me I concluded, that, here is a man for the future of our State if not the country as right enough Blasius lived up to my expectations. I salute him and pray his soul rest in peace. Jimmy
