Two tourists' bodies fished out from sea off Bengal

Kolkata, Sep 18 (IANS): The bodies of two of the three tourists who drowned on Saturday while bathing in sea in West Bengals East Midnapore districts coastal region were fished out on Sunday, police said.

While the body of Sumantra Banerjee, 32, an inhabitant of Newtown in Kolkata, was recovered by the Coast Guard on Saturday, the police on Sunday fished out the bodies of the two other tourists -- both in their mid-20s.

The lifeless bodies were found around 7 a.m. on Sunday morning by the coastal police rescue team.

They were employees of a Kolkata-based leading IT company and had been visiting Mandarmani as part of a team outing.

"The sea beach of Mandarmani is under constant police surveillance since Saturday and announcements are being made repeatedly to inform the tourists in case of high tide or bad weather conditions," said Partha Biswas, Sub-Inspector of Mandarmani coastal police station.
