Maruti forays into LCV segment with the launch of Super Carry


Jul 28: Maruti Suzuki enters into the Light Commercial Vehicle segment with the launch of its first LCV, Super Carry. The company announced that it will start the sales of Super Carry

On the launching occassion of Super Carry, Mr.R.S Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) of Maruti Suzuki said, “Super Carry is designed and developed basis detailed research and understanding of customer requirements. It offers best of both the worlds – power and strength as well as carrying capacity. We are confident Super Carry will enhance the profitability of our customers.” He added, “Super Carry will be initially available for sale in three cities: Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana. It will be retailed through a dedicated ‘Commercial’ sales channel.”

Maruti offers the Super Carry only with a diesel engine option. The engine powering the vehicle is the same diesel engine of the company’s Celerio hatchback. The compact, lightweight engine with a displacement of 793cc churns out peak power and torque figures of 32hp @ 3500rpm and 75Nm @ 2000rpm respectively. The engine gets mated to a 5-speed Manual gearbox and returns a fuel efficiency of 22.07kmpl. The top speed of the LCV is 80kmph.

Super Carry features a simple and clean design holding a lot of safety features. The cabin has been specially designed to take care of the driver’s comfort and convenience. Braking duties are handled by disc and drum brakes at the front and rear ends. The presence of McPherson strut suspension offers better riding and handling of the LCV.

With a payload capacity of 740kg, the Super Carry measures a length of 3800mm, width of 1562mm, height of 1868mm and a wheelbase of 2110mm. The minimum ground clearance is 160mm and the tyre size of the LCV is 145R 12LT 8PR. The available colour options of Super Carry are Superior White and Silky Silver.

Super Carry is offered with a warranty of 2 years / 72,000kms and is priced at Rs. 4.03 lakhs (ex-showroom, Ahmedabad), Rs. 4.11 lakhs (ex-showroom, Kolkata) and Rs. 4.01 lakhs (ex-showroom, Ludhiana).
