Udupi: Former MLA, Advocate S Jayaprakash Shetty no more

Udupi, Sep 8: Former MLA of Brahmavar constituency Sakur Jayaprakash Shetty passed away in the early hours of Monday after a long time illness.

Jayaprakash Shetty was 81.


Shetty was an active social worker. He had won the election as an independent candidate from Brahmavar constituency in 1967 for one term. He was an advocate in Udupi court and also a farmer.He was instrumental in the development of Uppoor.

Jayaprakash Shetty’s wife Vishalakshi Shetty had died five years ago. His relatives were taking care of him after that. He was admitted to KMC hospital in Manipal for treatment where he breathed his last.

District-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLC Pratap Chandra Shetty, Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Chairperson of KSDL Veronica Cornelio, Rajesh Shetty Birthi and other political leaders have expressed condolences for Shetty's demise.

Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj visited the deceased's house.

The funeral rites took place on Monday afternoon at Uggalbettu Uppoor.
