Railways freight traffic rises by 4.18 percent


New Delhi, April 9 (IANS): Indian Railways on Thursday reported an increase of 4.18 percent in its freight traffic during 2014-15.

According to the railways, it carried 1,097.57 million tonnes of revenue-earning freight traffic during 2014-15 from 1,053.55 million tonnes carried during the previous fiscal.

During March 2015, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways increased by 1.07 percent to 101.57 million tonnes from 100.49 million tonnes.
