Kuwait, Jan 24: To become a partner in humanitarian service towards the most vulnerable children of society, KCWA organized 'Kala Sanz' on Friday January 23 at American International School, Kuwait from 5 pm onwards.

The programme included five hours non-stop entertainment by popular singers, rib-tickling jokes by famous comedians from Kuwait and foot-tapping dances. The amount generated from this event was in support of building a new school to provide basic training and rehabilitation of children with disabilities at VIMUKTI (Care, Support, and Rehabilitation of the Differently Abled Children), Dayalbagh Ashram, Ujire, Beltangady in Karnataka.

The programme started with an introduction by MC of the day Deepak Andrade followed by Konkani song 'Mangllurgar' by Lancy Rodrigues and group. KCWA president Anil Fernandes welcomed the audience and mentioned the motto and intention of the programme along with a media display. He also explained the achievements of KCWA and thanked all the supporters and well-wishers who made this event a grand success.

The highlight of programme was mind blowing variety of songs such as 'Chor Eklo', 'Abolem', 'Moga yo yo Mangllurgara', 'Maka Novro Zai', 'Nach tu Nachonk Ye', 'Sobhai Muji', 'Sounsarant', 'Tu Ailona', 'Konnalem chedum', 'Yore Yore moja moga', 'Tu ye-Nillya Gagananth', 'Tu moja Mogaxo', 'Cha Cha Cha', 'Tu Xoltai tashem', 'Masti' and 'Yo re Pavsa' sung by Konkani's Golden Voice Rony D'Cunha, Jasmine D'Cunha and Lancy Rodrigues along with Gulf Voice of Mangalore fame Gladys Lorena, Orson D'souza, Joyline Gonsalves, Lavina Prafulla, Kavitha Colaco, Marcus, Nirmala Machado, Rilson, Roshan, Raina D'Mello, Sunitha D'Silva, Shaila and Hywel Pinto.

Foot-tapping dances were performed by Joel and team, Salmiya Friends, Jhankar Dance Academy, Jovas XLNC and Jennifer D'Souza. Rib-tickling jokes Sezari, Kazaracho Ladoo, Shilabalike and Mad House were enacted by Agnel and party which were appreciated by everyone.

Comedy skit "Ek Phul Doag Mhali" written and directed by Lancy Rodrigues and enacted by Anil Menezes, Stephen Machado, Joe D'Souza, Lancy Rodrigues, Rajesh Fernandes and Ancil Beneto was unique, one of its kind with a first-ever experiment of four female characters played by males in a Konkani stage in Kuwait. The sound, lights and backstage LED screen were provided by Illuminations' Anand D'Souza. Backstage was done by Rocky and Joyston. The major attraction of the event was the media display which was prepared and displayed by Steevan Misquit.

It was a rare event in Kuwait, fully entertaining with non-stop stage entertainment without any additional speeches, felicitations or other activities. The programme was ably compered by Kuwait's popular Konkani MC Deepak Andrade. The most appreciative thing about the programme was that it was an effort by KCWA to bring local talents to limelight without any celebrities from outside which happens very rarely. It was the brainchild of popular musician Kiran Gonsalves who also arranged the music for all songs. He also has the credit of playing music for the last three seasons of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Kuwait semi-finals along with his dedicated team.

KCWA has raised the bar by showcasing a classy no-frills entertainer. Soothing vocals with beautiful accompaniment, exuberant dances and exemplary acting staged seamlessly made us wish for more. New and not-so-new talents were on full display and deserve to be applauded.
KCWA's noble activities through the last 25 years were an eye-opener that will encourage many to join hands and reach out to those in need. And this was possible as KCWA's Patroness Mother Mary watched over and guided all those involved in making this a successful event.
    Congratulations!!
