Mangaluru: Two-day Christmas Food Fiesta to raise funds for needy

Mangaluru, Nov 28: Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh episcopal city deanery will organize Christmas Food Fiesta-2014 on Saturday November 29 and Sunday November 30 at Milagres parish ground to raise funds for the noble cause of building 10 houses for needy families.

The Christmas Food Fiesta-2014 will be inaugurated by Dr Henry D'souza, bishop of Bellary on Saturday.

Addressing a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands, president of Catholic Sabha episcopal city deanery Anil Lobo said, "There will be cooking competition on Saturday November 29 with fancy fete, food festival and exhibition on both the days. There will be baby show competition and variety entertainment programme on Sunday, November 30. Baby show and competition are open to all kids in the age group of 3 to 6 years. Names can be registered at the venue on November 29 after 4 pm.

"The cooking competition will begin at 2 pm sharp on November 29 at Milagres parish ground. Twenty teams will be participating in the contest. Winners will be awarded with first, second and third prizes with trophies. There will be three consolation prizes. There will be magic show by Prof Shanker, Junior Shanker and team and result of cooking competition will be announced at 8 pm.

"On Sunday November 30, baby show and competition will begin at 2.30 pm, followed by fancy fete, food festival and cultural programme. Renowned cultural troupes MeMoRi, Mandd Sobhan, Balmatta Musical Association, ICYM Mangaluru will present variety of entertainment. Dance troupe Boy Zone will present dance.

"Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of Mangalore will preside over the valedictory function and launch house building project of Christmas Food Fiesta-2014.

"On both the days, top brands of Mangaluru will be exhibiting and selling their products and services at the exhibition halls. Fancy fete will have attractive games and there are ample opportunities to win the prizes.

"Catholic Sabha city deanery expects a crowd of six to eight thousand and parking for vehicles is arranged at Milagres college ground.

"We seek everybody's support. If we get good response for the noble cause, we will continue the good work in the coming years including constructing houses for widows."

Fr J B Crasta, spiritual director and Flora Castelino, secretary of Catholic Sabha were present during the press meet.

    Christmas is more meaningful when we use the festive occasion to help the needy. Let this X'mas bring joy and happiness on those who are downtrodden. Kudos to Catholic Sabha for this noble work
