Thank You : Rs 10.6 lac enhances Jyoti's confidence to live

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Sep 14: Jyoti Mendonca (41), wife of Alwyn Mendonca, who hails from Shirva/Pilar, and presently living at Vashi Navi Mumbai, was diagnosed with squamous carcinona, a sinusrelated cancer. Her appeal was put forward to daijiworld readers on August 17, and in about two weeks time, readers from all corners of the world came forward to support her and helped rebuild her confidence and will power to live, by contributing Rs 10,67,993, as of September 9, 2014.

Below is a letter written by Jyothi addressing all those who helped her in every possible way:

Quote:

"We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the generous help you all have given us in raising the much needed amount of Rs 10,67,993. What a blessing you all are to us and many others that you all have extended your generosity to.

Before I was diagnosed of cancer and refered to Tata Hospital, we already had huge medical bills from pre cancer diagnosis due to various tests, medicines, surgery and biopsy. My husband also has stopped working due to regular hospital visits and to look after our two small children.

With unexpected medical bills it was very hard to get by and then to be diagnosed by 'cancer', we were completely lost. We are very fortunate to have the support of all, the Daijiworld readers, our friends and family, our parish priests and members of Sacred Heart Church Vashi, for your kind generosity, words of concern, care and encouragement, and your prayers which has given us the much needed hope.

I have been diagnosed with poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of paranasal sinuses; the tumor is growing towards the left eye and skull bone. The treatment for me is difficult as I have hyper thyroid. I just completed my third round of chemotherapy and we still have a long fight in front of us.

We are confident that we will get through these though times for we are surrounded by so many loving and caring people like you all. So again, thank you for touching our lives with your love, care and most of all for your prayers.

We would like to thank Daijiworld team for highlighting my case due to which we have received the much needed help and love from so many friends world over. This will most certainly help us to get through these difficult times.

God Bless you all for your generosity and kindness."

It is indeed reassuring to note that there are still people who selflessly shoulder other strangers burden without the glory of either recognition or repayment.
It is also commendable that Daijiworld uses its considerable influence to promote the cause of the truly needy.
