The inauguration of the first ever Milan will be graced by Sri Bhattaraka Charukeerthi Panditacharyavarya Maha Swamiji, Shree Jain Math, Moodbidri.

Other honourable guests to include D Surendra Kumar, national executive president (Zone-8) Bharatiya Jain Milan, M S Mruthyunjay, zonal president (Zone-8), Bharatiya Jain Milan, K Prasanna Kumar, executive president (Zone-8) Bharatiya Jain Milan, Pushparaj Jain, secretary (Zone 8) Mangalore - Division, Bharatiya Jain Milan, Dr S K Jain, astrologer, Bangalore, Frank Fernandes, CEO, Mosaco Shipping LLC Dubai and Padmashree Dr B R Shetty, CEO and MD of NMC Group, Abu Dhabi.

It is said that Jainism had its origins in Moodbidri in the 12th century AD. Under the patronage of the Vijayanagar Kings, it flourished in Moodbidri and its surrounding areas.  In the early 1400s Charukeerthi Bhattaraka, the head priest of Jain Math requested the Vijayanagar King for a piece of land to build a temple.  The King granted the land and in 1430 the famous 1000 Pillar Jain Temple was built with the help of wealthy merchants and the local community.  The 1000 Pillar Jain Temple is the most magnificent of the 18 Jain Temples in Moodbidri.  It is dedicated to Chandranatha, the 8th Theertankara of Jains and is an uncrowned world heritage site in the outskirts of Mangalore.

Though Jain community members have been working here in UAE for quite long, this is the first time they are getting together on a single platform with the blessings of Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji who will arrive all the way from Shree Jain Math, Moodbidri.
